ULEZ Alert

Terms of use

Last updated 26 October 2026

The short version: ULEZ Alert is an aid, not a guarantee. It helps you pay on time and keep out of zones your car can't enter, but it can't promise every alert. You stay responsible for paying and for where you drive, and the official site always has the final word.

An aid, not a guarantee

ULEZ Alert is a reminder and warning aid, not a guide to rely on alone: it doesn't replace road signs, the official websites or your own checks. It depends on things we can't control (your phone's location, settings, battery saving and signal, and the limits Apple and Google put on apps working in the background), so an alert or reminder can be late, missed or wrong, and zone edges, prices and deadlines can change before the app is updated. You stay responsible for paying every charge and toll on time, and for not driving into a zone your car isn't allowed in. Always check the official site before you pay. The check of your car uses official records and is a good guide, not the final word: the scheme's own vehicle checker is.

What ULEZ Alert is

ULEZ Alert reminds you to pay road charges and tolls before the deadline and warns you before low emission zones. It never pays anything for you: the Pay button opens the official site. It is independent and not affiliated with Transport for London, any council or any government body. By using the app you agree to these terms.

Safe use

Set the app up before you drive, and never handle your phone while driving. Alerts come up like any notification, so you don't need to touch it. Road signs and the Highway Code come before anything the app shows.

Subscriptions

Your first 3 alerts are free (a warning before a zone and the alert for going in on the same day count as one). After that, without a subscription the app stops warning you and reminding you about new zones and tolls; adding crossings yourself, fines, history and the car check stay free. The price is shown in the app before you subscribe (currently £1.99 a month or £14.99 a year, including VAT). Apple on iPhone, or Google Play on Android, takes the payment, and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in their settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep everything until the end of the time you've paid for. You can ask Apple or Google for a refund through them. This doesn't affect your legal rights as a consumer, including if the app is faulty, and you can always email us. A subscription bought on iPhone doesn't carry over to Android, or the other way round.

If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement also applies.

Using the app fairly

You may use the app on phones you own or control, for your own driving. Please don't copy or resell it, take it apart (except where the law allows), or use the car lookup to collect details of cars in bulk.

Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms or don't use reasonable care and skill, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for loss caused by things outside our control, such as your phone's settings, battery saving or signal, or Apple's and Google's limits on apps working in the background. A charge for driving in a zone is owed to the scheme whatever the app shows.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Scheme names

ULEZ is the name of Transport for London's scheme. Dart Charge, Merseyflow, Mersey Gateway, Tyne Tunnels and the other scheme names belong to their owners. We use them only to say which schemes the app covers.

Changes

We may change the app or these terms for a good reason, such as a change in the law, a change by Apple or Google, a change to a scheme's rules, or to fix or improve the app. If a change to these terms makes things noticeably worse for you, we'll say so in the app's update notes, and you can cancel your subscription at any time. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed.

Problems and the law

If something goes wrong, email help@gqmarketing.co.uk and we'll try to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own country's courts.
